Birth to 3 Months

How your Infant will Grow

Things You Can Do:

Physical: Lifts head up briefly when on belly

- Place your infant on their belly, at times, when they are awake

Hand Skills: Grasps small object if placed in hand

- Place a small rattle in your infant’s hand

Language: Makes sounds such as cooing

- Watch and see if your baby reacts to sounds

- Speak to him/her in a pleasant voice

Cognition: Follows moving objects with eyes; appears to stare at times

- Hang a mobile two feet in front of your infant

- Let him/her watch people and activities

- Move him/her from room to room

Social: Smiles when played with

-Smile and talk softly while holding and touching your infant

- Your infant needs as much contact with you as possible
